Rupture of central-force lattices [PDF]
We study numerically the rupture of elastic lattices consisting of fragile elastic springs which can freely rotate around nodes. All bonds are given an identical force constant but the threshold force for which they break is randomly attributed to each bond according to a uniform probability distribution between 0 and 1.

Effect of genotype and storage on textural parameters in potato tubers [PDF]
Potato lines bred by intraspecific hybridization of Solanum tuberosum L. were evaluated on their textural properties in two consecutive years. The plants were grown under mountain conditions at 1610 m altitude and were harvested at the end of September ...

Multiple barriers in forced rupture of protein complexes [PDF]
Curvatures in the most probable rupture force (f*) versus log-loading rate (log rf) observed in dynamic force spectroscopy (DFS) on biomolecular complexes are interpreted using a one-dimensional free energy profile with multiple barriers or a single barrier with force-dependent transition state.

Rupture force and color of quince during osmotic drying [PDF]
Quince fruit is characterized by pleasant smell, taste and ability of long-term storage. However, beside these good characteristics, the high quality of hardness and firmness of the fruit influences the decrease in its usage in the fresh state.

Star polymers rupture induced by constant forces [PDF]
In this work, we study the breakage process of an unknotted three-arm star-shaped polymer when it is pulled from its free ends by a constant force. The star polymer configuration is described through an array of monomers coupled by anharmonic bonds, while the rupture process is tracked in three-dimensional space by means of Langevin Molecular Dynamics ...

Optimization Effect of Ultrasound on Rupture Force and Kernel Extracting Quality of Walnut using Response Surface Method (RSM) [PDF]
IntroductionOne of the most important and sensitive steps after walnut harvesting is the separation of the kernel from its shell. Walnut rupture force is an appropriate criterion for design with high performance and better quality, which can be used as ...

Mechanical behaviour of Ostrich’s eggshell at compression
The deformation and fracture behaviour of Ostrich’s eggs at the static compression has been investigated. The mechanical properties of egg to compression were determined in terms of average rupture force, specific deformation and rupture energy along X ...
