A novel approach for rice straw agricultural waste utilization: Synthesis of solid aluminosilicate matrices for cesium immobilization

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2022
A new approach to the use of rice straw as a difficult-to-recycle agricultural waste was proposed. Potassium aluminosilicate was obtained by spark plasma sintering as an effective material for subsequent immobilization of 137Cs into a solid-state matrix.

Impact of Atmospheric Microparticles on the Development of Oxidative Stress in Healthy City/Industrial Seaport Residents

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Atmospheric microsized particles producing reactive oxygen species can pose a serious health risk for city residents. We studied the responses of organisms to microparticles in 255 healthy volunteers living in areas with different levels of microparticle air pollution.

Traveling Wave Resonance and Simplified Analysis Method for Long‐Span Symmetrical Cable‐Stayed Bridges under Seismic Traveling Wave Excitation

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The seismic responses of a long‐span cable‐stayed bridge under uniform excitation and traveling wave excitation in the longitudinal direction are, respectively, computed. The numerical results show that the bridge’s peak seismic responses vary significantly as the apparent wave velocity decreases. Therefore, the traveling wave effect must be considered
