The gasteroid Russulales

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1979
Results from an ultrastructural investigation of the basidiospore morphology found in the gasteroid genera allied to the Russulaceae has culminated in a revised classification. The distinction between the ballistosporic basidiospore and the statismosporic basidiospore is clarified.

Cystidial structure in two genera of the Russulales

Botany, 2008
As a part of a broader study to determine whether the subcellular structure of cystidia can provide synapomorphies for clades of Agaricomycetes, cystidia of Auriscalpium vulgare Gray and Russula emetica (Schaeff.) Pers. were examined ultrastructurally, after freeze substitution.

Raman spectroscopic study of Lactarius spores (Russulales, Fungi)

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2005
Fungi are important organisms in ecosystems, in industrial and pharmaceutical production and are valuable food sources as well. Classical identification is often time-consuming and specialistic. In this study, Raman spectroscopy is applied to the analysis of fungal spores of Lactarius, an economically and ecologically important genus of Basidiomycota ...

New and noteworthy Russulales from Israel

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1977
Seven species of Russulales are recorded as new for Israel and the near East. Two species are undescribed: Macowanites galileensis sp.nov., related to M. krjukowensis (Buchholtz) Sing. & Smith, and Russula carmelensis sp.nov., related to R. gigasperma Romagn.

A new ecological note on Confertobasidium olivaceoalbum (Russulales, Basidiomycota)

Nova Hedwigia, 2017
Confertobasidium olivaceoalbum, a rare corticioid fungus, is recorded for the first time on wood of Eucalyptus globulus in Italy. Since this species has been recorded only on coniferous wood, this finding adds new information to the ecology, geographic distribution and molecular data of corticioid fungi.

Spore release in hypogeous, gasteroid and agaricoid Russulales

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1988
Late basidiospore development was examined in seven heterotropic and orthotropic species of Russulales. In Lactarius, Russula, Macowanites, Elasmomyces, Martellia , and Zelleromyces , a transverse electron-transparent region developed in the sterigmal apex that separated sterigmal cytoplasm from basidiospore cytoplasm.

The Australasian species of Lactarius subgenus Gerardii (Russulales)

Fungal Diversity, 2011
This paper provides an overview and identification key of the Australasian species of Lactarius subg. Gerardii. A molecular phylogeny based on the nuc DNA markers ITS, LSU and rpb2, combined with detailed morphological observations resulted in the delimitation of 12 strongly supported and morphologically recognizable species. Five new agaricoid species

A multiple approach to the taxonomy of Lactarius rubrozonatus (Basidiomycota, Russulales)

Mycotaxon, 2004
The biometric and molecular data supporting the separation of the new taxon Lactarius rubrozonatus from L. sanguifluus are discussed. The results of a multidisciplinary examination led to separate two close taxa growing sympatrically in symbiotic association with two-needle pines.

A new species, Russula luteolamellata (Russulaceae, Russulales) from China

Phytotaxa, 2022
A new species of Russula subgenus Brevipedum, Russula luteolamellata, is described from the Yanshan Mountains in northern China based on morphology and phylogenetic analysis of the nrITS and nrLSU-RPB2-mtSSU gene regions. Russula luteolamellata is characterized by the yellowish to pale orange pileus, white to yellowish lamella with a few rust-colored ...

Gasteroid Basidiomycota of Victoria State, Australia 2. Russulales

Kew Bulletin, 1984
Gasteroid Basidiomycota allied to the agaricoid genera of Russulaceae, occurring in Victoria State, Australia, are described and illustrated. In Russulaceae, Cystangium is the only gasteroid genus known to occur, whilst in Elasmomycetaceae, species belonging to Elasmomyces, Gymnomyces, Martellia, and Zelleromyces are reported.
