Alcohol‐Mediated Photocatalytic Ring‐Hydrogenation of Furfuryl Alcohol Over Rh/TiO2

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 12, 26 June 2026.
This study systematically investigates the chemoselective ring‐hydrogenation of furfuryl alcohol over metal‐loaded TiO2 (M/TiO2) photocatalysts under UV irradiation at room temperature and pressure without H2 gas. Rh/TiO2 achieves high selectivity in ring‐hydrogenation to tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, whereas Pd/TiO2 promotes the hydrogenolysis of ...

On the Reaction Mechanism of Nitrate Radical and DMPO in Non‐aqueous Photocatalytic Media

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 21, 1 June 2026.
This work identifies 2‐oxo‐5,5‐dimethyl‐1‐pyrroline 1‐oxyl (DMPOX), formed via the selective oxidation of 5,5‐dimethyl‐1‐pyrroline N‐oxide (DMPO) by nitrate radicals (NO3•) in nonaqueous media, as a distinctive EPR fingerprint of NO3•. The DFT‐supported mechanism clarifies its formation pathway and highlights DMPOX detection as a robust tool for ...

Fundamental Studies on “Blue Titania” Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions: Color Evolution and Stability as Function of the Crystal Phase

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
The blue color of titanium dioxide after photocharging by a reaction with 2‐propanol under oxygen‐free conditions is studied as a function of the crystal phase(s). Color depth, and color stability under ambient conditions, are not only a function of the polymorph but also related to particle size and oxygen accessibility.

Recent Advances in Photocatalytic Urea Synthesis via C−N Coupling From C/N‐Containing Species: A Mini Review

open access: yesEcoEnergy, Volume 4, Issue 3, June 2026.
This review systematically compares photocatalytic urea synthesis from various C (CO2, CO, CH3OH) and N (N2, NH3, NO3−) sources. It highlights C–N coupling mechanisms, key challenges, and future directions, offering a framework to guide rational catalyst design for sustainable, solar‐driven urea production.
