Nature of Rutile Nuclei in Anatase-to-Rutile Phase Transition

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2015
The solid phase transition of TiO2, in particular anatase to rutile, has been extensively studied in the past 30 years. To seek the nucleation site at the beginning of phase transition is highly challenging, which asks for new theoretical techniques with high spatial and temporal resolution.

Multiphoton interactions in rutile

Applied Optics, 1984
Laser-induced photoluminescence and photoconductivity in rutile crystal are described. Nd:YAG laser photons were employed which have energies of 1.16 eV (1.06 μm). This energy is just slightly more than ⅓ of the TiO2 band gap. Intensities between 105 and 106 W/cm2 were employed. The photoconductivity is shown to be produced by competing single- and two-

Protons, dipoles, and charge carriers in rutile in rutile

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1962
Abstract After a short discussion of structure and infrared-vibration data of rutile (Section 1), the presence of protons, replaceable by deuterons, is determined by the OH and OD stretching vibration and traced to specific lattice sites (Section 2).

The vibration spectrum of Rutile

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1950
The vibration specturm of Rutile has been studied by group theoretical methods. It has been shown that the structure possesses eleven frequencies. four of which are active in the Raman effect, six in the infra-red and one is inactive in both. The numerical values of the frequencies have been worked out on the basis of four empirically assumed force ...

Adsorption microcalorimetric study of rutile and silica-coated rutile

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1980
Abstract A microcalorimeter with two Tian-Calvet thermopiles was used for the determination at 77.4°K of the differential energies of adsorption of argon and nitrogen on pure rutile and on samples of rutile coated with different amounts of dense silica (0.6, 0.9, and 2.6 wt% silica).

On Rutile in the Dogger

Geological Magazine, 1939
In several papers by the present author alone or in collaboration with Dr. J. E. Hemingway, mention has been made of the abundance of the titanium minerals, rutile, anatase, and brookite, in the Middle Jurassic sediments of Yorkshire. One of these papers dealt with brookite crystals from the Dogger, and the present one will describe briefly the types ...
