Optimized nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation based on Förster resonance in Rydberg atoms

Frontiers of Physics, 2021
In this paper, we propose a scheme for implementing the nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC+) of two Rydberg atoms by using invariant-based reverse engineering (IBRE).

Rydberg-atom-Rydberg-atom ionisation cross sections

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1979
A four-body classical-trajectory Monte Carlo method has been applied to Rydberg-atom-Rydberg-atom scattering problems. Numerical calculations were conducted over the velocity range ve/3 to 3v2 where v2(au)=1/n and n is the principal quantum number of the Rydberg atom.

Subrecoil cooling of Rydberg atoms

Physical Review A, 1995
Two mechanisms for production of an ensemble of atoms in a highly excited state with very narrow distribution of the atomic center-of-mass momentum (cold Rydberg atoms) are proposed. The mechanisms are based on velocity-selective $\ensuremath{\pi}$ pulses and coherent population trapping in three-level cascade systems with the uppermost state being the

Radiative Rydberg-atomRydberg-atom collisions in the strong-field regime

Physical Review A, 1987
We describe the experimental observation of the resonant collisional energy transfer Na(ns)+Na(ns)+qh\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}Na(np)+Na[(n-1)p]+(q○)h\ensuremath{\nu} which occurs when the Na atoms in a strong microwave field are tuned in energy with a static field so that the energy resonance ${E}_{\mathrm{ns}}$+${E}_{\mathrm{ns}}$=${E}_{

Cold Rydberg Atoms

2007
Abstract We employ ensembles of cold Rydberg-atom gases produced via photo-excitation of laser-cooled atom clouds in order to investigate collision-induced dynamics, excitation blockades, and Rydberg-atom trapping. After a general description of typical experimental methods used in this research, we review state-mixing and ionizing collision ...

Rydberg Atoms

1994
In recent years, Rydberg atoms have been the subject of intense study, becoming the testing ground for several quantum mechanical problems. This book provides a comprehensive description of the physics of Rydberg atoms, highlighting their remarkable properties by reference to their behaviour in a wide range of physical situations. Following an overview

Atomic Rydberg States

1982
Publisher Summary This chapter is devoted to the production and detection of Rydberg states; every experiment starts and ends with these processes. The main results of spectroscopic studies are analyzed and a strong emphasis is placed on the effects of external fields as this is probably the domain where the most interesting and sometimes surprising ...

Strong autoresonance excitation of Rydberg atoms: The Rydberg accelerator

Physical Review A, 1990
A classical mechanism is proposed for the many-photon ionization of Rydberg atoms in a quasimonochromatic oscillating electric field with an amplitude smaller than the stochasticity threshold. The mechanism is based on the dynamic autoresonance between the slowly varying frequency of the oscillating field and the Keplerian frequency (or one of its ...

Resonant Rydberg-atom — Rydbert-atom collisions

Physical Review A, 1982
The experimental investigation of the resonant collision process Nans+Nans..-->..Nanp+Na(n-1)p which occurs when the levels are tuned with an electric field so that the ns level lies midway between the two p levels is described in detail. The observations are shown to be in good agreement with a long-range resonant dipole-dipole interaction.

Transient optical response of cold Rydberg atoms with electromagnetically induced transparency

, 2020
We investigate the linear and nonlinear optical response to an optical pumping of a four-level atomic system with electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a cold Rydberg atomic gas. It is found that the transient behavior (especially, the third-
