Three-Dimensional Trapping of Individual Rydberg Atoms in Ponderomotive Bottle Beam Traps. [PDF]
We demonstrate three-dimensional trapping of individual Rydberg atoms in holographic optical bottle beam traps. Starting with cold, ground-state ^{87}Rb atoms held in standard optical tweezers, we excite them to nS_{1/2}, nP_{1/2}, or nD_{3/2} Rydberg ...

Blueprint for fault-tolerant quantum computation with Rydberg atoms [PDF]
We present a blueprint for building a fault-tolerant universal quantum computer with Rydberg atoms. Our scheme, which is based on the surface code, uses individually addressable, optically trapped atoms as qubits and exploits electromagnetically induced ...

Microwave electrometry via electromagnetically induced absorption in cold Rydberg atoms [PDF]
The atom-based traceable standard for microwave electrometry shows promising advantages by enabling stable and uniform measurement. Here we theoretically propose and then experimentally realize an alternative direct International System of Units (SI ...

Enriching the Quantum Toolbox of Ultracold Molecules with Rydberg Atoms
We describe a quantum information architecture consisting of a hybrid array of optically trapped molecules and atoms. This design leverages the large transition dipole moments of Rydberg atoms to mediate fast, high-fidelity gates between qubits encoded ...

Theory of long range interactions for Rydberg states attached to hyperfine split cores
The theory is developed for one and two atom interactions when the atom has a Rydberg electron attached to a hyperfine split core state. This situation is relevant for some of the rare earth and alkaline earth atoms that have been proposed for ...

One-dimensional Rydberg Gas in a Magnetoelectric Trap [PDF]
We study the quantum properties of Rydberg atoms in a magnetic Ioffe-Pritchard trap which is superimposed by a homogeneous electric field. Trapped Rydberg atoms can be created in long-lived electronic states exhibiting a permanent electric dipole moment ...

Quantum simulation of Cayley-tree Ising Hamiltonians with three-dimensional Rydberg atoms
The authors report the quasiadiabatic ground-state preparation of an Ising-type Hamiltonian on Cayley-tree geometries of Rydberg atoms in three-dimensional arrangements of optical tweezers.

Electromagnetically Induced Transparency with Rydberg Atoms [PDF]
We present a theory of electromagnetically induced transparency in a cold ensemble of strongly interacting Rydberg atoms. Long-range interactions between the atoms constrain the medium to behave as a collection of superatoms, each comprising a blockade volume that can accommodate at most one Rydberg excitation.

Rydberg Interaction-Induced Distortion of the Autler–Townes Spectra in Cold Lithium Atoms
In this article, effects of the strong long-range interaction of Rydberg atoms on the Autler–Townes splitting spectrum are investigated. Preliminary results are obtained for various excitation times and Rydberg atom densities.
