Extraction techniques and clean-up procedures for the determination of pahs in sediments of the Ceará coast [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Extraction and clean-up are essential points in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) analysis in a solid matrix. This work compares extraction techniques and clean-up procedures for PAH analysis.

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Application of a New Silica Gel Ionization Intensifier on Nanogram Lead Isotope Analysis

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2014
In nuclear forensics the amount of Pb to be analyzed is usually in the order of several nanograms; that is >10-3 of ionization efficiency is required for mass spectrometry measurements.

Effect of Wood Fiber on the Strength of Calcareous Sand Rapidly Seeped by Colloidal Silica [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Silica nano-particles are suspended in the colloidal silica and can be induced to gradually gel after the PH value changes. Thus colloidal silica can be utilized to rapidly seep through loose calcareous sand, and the silicon gel is gradually formed to ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Water Sorption: The Importance of Framework Physical Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the water‐vapor stability of 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with varying pore sizes. Results reveal microporous COFs demonstrate superior stability compared to mesoporous ones, despite lower water uptake. Mesoporous keto‐enamine‐linked COFs show enhanced stability due to intralayer hydrogen bonds, confirmed by simulations and

Functionalization of Carbon and Silica Gel by Phosphoric Acid

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2007
Functionalization of polymer-based carbon (SCS-3) and silica gel (SG60) by phosphoric acid at 800°C was investigated. It was shown that heat treatment of carbon and silica gel in the presence of phosphoric acid at 800°C provides a way of functionalizing ...
