Fast Bitwise Implementation of the Algebraic Normal Form Transform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The representation of Boolean functions by their algebraic normal forms (ANFs) is very important for cryptography, coding theory and other scientific areas. The ANFs are used in computing the algebraic degree of S-boxes, some other cryptographic criteria

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Block Cipher Nonlinear Component Generation via Hybrid Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence for Image Encryption

open access: yesMathematics
To analyze the security of encryption, an effectual encryption scheme based on colored images utilizing the hybrid pseudo-random binary sequence (HPRBS) and substitution boxes, known as S-boxes, is proposed.

Cellular automata based S-boxes

open access: yesCryptography and Communications, 2018
Cellular Automata (CA) represent an interesting approach to design Substitution Boxes (S-boxes) having good cryptographic properties and low implementation costs. From the cryptographic perspective, up to now there have been only ad- hoc studies about specific kinds of CA, the best known example being the χ nonlinear transformation used in Keccak.

New directions in cryptanalysis of block ciphers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The algebraic expression of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) RIJNDAEL S-box involved only 9 terms. The selected mapping for RIJNDAEL S-box has a simple algebraic expression.

Renormalization of the Abelian-Higgs Model in the R-xi and Unitary gauges and the physicality of its scalar potential

open access: yes, 2017
We perform an old school, one-loop renormalization of the Abelian-Higgs model in the Unitary and $R_\xi$ gauges, focused on the scalar potential and the gauge boson mass. Our goal is to demonstrate in this simple context the validity of the Unitary gauge

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Practical Bijective S-box Design

open access: yes, 2013
We construct 8 x 8 bijective cryptographically strong S-boxes. Our construction is based on using non-bijective power functions over the finite filed.

Generating S-Boxes from Semi-fields Pseudo-extensions

open access: yes, 2014
Block ciphers, such as the AES, correspond to a very important family of secret-key cryptosystems. The security of such systems partly relies on what is called the S-box.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
