Integration of life cycle sustainability assessment indicators in different energy sectors

open access: yesEconomics and Environment
Despite the increasing number of studies analysing sustainability performance in energy-related field, most of the existing papers present the results of particular dimensions separately.

Mobile vs. point guards [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We study the problem of guarding orthogonal art galleries with horizontal mobile guards (alternatively, vertical) and point guards, using "rectangular vision".

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Immunohistochemical mapping of thymic microenvironment in sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus)

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2020
In this study, we describe the immunohistochemical characterisation of the thymus, the main lymphoid organ, in sturgeon. The wide range cytokeratin, vimentin, S-100 protein, LCA (CD45) and CD3 were selected as the immunohistochemical markers to map the ...

Assessing Social Sustainability of Products: An Improved S-LCA Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To preserve proper growth of the planet, industries have to increase sustainability of produced good according to the compliance and governance regulations for NPD (new product development). Sustainability concerns economical, environmental and social aspects; among these issues, the last theme is the less argued in literature and this paper focuses on

NSUN5 Attenuates Renal Injury and Ferroptosis in Hyperuricaemic Nephropathy Through YBX2‐Dependent Stabilisation of SCD1 m5C Methylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NSUN5 is downregulated in hyperuricaemic nephropathy. Overexpression of NSUN5 enhances the stability of SCD1 mRNA through the m5C reader YBX2, ultimately inhibiting ferroptosis in renal tubular epithelial cells. Additionally, this axis suppresses the NF‐κB signaling pathway to alleviate inflammation and upregulates ABCG2 to promote uric acid excretion,

Social impacts profile of suppliers: a S-LCA approach

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
Abstract There is a large scientific literature that addresses the supplier selection problem (SSP). However, the majority of the papers are focused in the economic dimension and do not consider the other dimensions of the sustainability, the environmental and the social ones.

Area of protection in S-LCA: human well-being or societal quality [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, 2019
PurposeThe set of stakeholders included in the social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) guideline (UNEP/SETAC 2009) could create confusion as to the target of the assessment: individuals or society. This paper attempts to develop the epistemological foundations of S-LCA in social sciences.
