The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Constraining Walking and Custodial Technicolor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We show how to constrain the physical spectrum of walking technicolor models via precision measurements and modified Weinberg sum rules. We also study models possessing a custodial symmetry for the S parameter at the effective Lagrangian level ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Direct sampling method for anomaly imaging from S-parameter

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we develop a fast imaging technique for small anomalies located in homogeneous media from S-parameter data measured at dipole antennas. Based on the representation of S-parameters when an anomaly exists, we design a direct sampling method (

Experimental determination of microwave attenuation and electrical permittivity of double-walled carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The attenuation and the electrical permittivity of the double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) were determined in the frequency range of 1–65 GHz. A micromachined coplanar waveguide transmission line supported on a Si membrane with a thickness of 1.4 ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Early-stage breast cancer screening using a new biodegradable and easily implantable multi-element sensor in sub-THz range

open access: yesAutomatika
In this article, a new biodegradable and easily implantable multi-element sensor is presented for early-stage breast cancer screening within the Sub-THz frequency range. The evolution of the sensor begins with the development of a single element.

A Three-Parameter S-Shaped Function of Flood Return Period and Damage

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2016
With growing flood risk due to increased urbanization, flood damage assessment and flood risk management must be reconsidered. To demonstrate and assess the new features and trends of flood risk in urbanized areas, a novel S-shaped function of return ...

Analysis of HOM interaction between cavities by multi-modal s-parameter measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Accelerating cavities exchange HOM power through interconnecting beam pipes in case of signal frequencies above the cut-off of their propagating waveguide modes.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
