ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Underwater Sound Speed Field Forecasting Based on the Least Square Support Vector Machine
Underwater sound speed is one of the most significant factors that affects high-accuracy underwater acoustic positioning and navigation. Due to its complex temporal variation, the forecasting of the underwater sound speed field (SSF) becomes a ...

ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Characterization and modeling of high frequency equivalent noise in GFET based on contact resistance
A small signal equivalent circuit model of Graphene Field Effect Transistors (GFET) is proposed, which takes into account the internal physical transmission phenomenon of metal-graphene interface, namely the contact resistance between drain and source.A

Observational constraints on a nonlinear spinor field quintessence model in an FLRW universe
In the framework of a spherically symmetric Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) spacetime, we construct a quintessence model driven by a nonlinear, massless spinor field in an open-universe scenario.

The spatially varying geographic-parameters introduce significant uncertainty into the ocean model. Due to the impracticality of manually tuning spatial varying parameters, data assimilation methods are widely used for geographic-parameter optimization ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
