Implicit self-consistent electrolyte model in plane-wave density-functional theory.

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics, 2016
The ab initio computational treatment of electrochemical systems requires an appropriate treatment of the solid/liquid interfaces. A fully quantum mechanical treatment of the interface is computationally demanding due to the large number of degrees of ...

Vectorial formalism for analysis and design of polyphase synchronous machines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A vectorial formalism for analysis and design of polyphase synchronous machines without reluctance and saturation effects is described. We prove the equivalence of such a machine with a set of magnetically independent machines, which are electrically and

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Earthworm-Inspired Multimodal Pneumatic Continuous Soft Robot Enhanced by Winding Transmission

open access: yesCyborg and Bionic Systems
This paper presents an earthworm-inspired multimodal pneumatic continuous soft robot enhanced by wire-winding transmission. First, a derived overlapped continuous control law based on multiple peristaltic waves is introduced to effectively improve the ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Comparison of the analgesic efficacy of combined superficial and deep serratus anterior plane block versus pectoserratus plane block following modified radical mastectomy surgery

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Background Both the pectoserratus plane block and the combined deep and superficial serratus anterior plane block (CSAPB) are recognized as effective regional anesthesia methods for pain control.

Numerical study on adjustment of the main flow field with guide vanes in transition zone for an S-duct

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2022
A 30°/30° S-duct is often employed by a modern civil and military aircraft. Due to the vortex generators have poor control effect on the flow separation in the large curvature S-duct, so a new method adjusting the direction of the main flow in the ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
