Comparison between the STANDARD™ F S. Pneumoniae Ag FIA and BinaxNOW S. Pneumoniae Antigen Card for Detection of Streptococcus Pneumoniae Urinary Antigen

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2022
We compared the performance of STANDARD F S. pneumoniae Ag FIA with that of BinaxNOW S. pneumoniae Antigen Card using 206 urine samples. The performance of STANDARD F was highly comparable to that of BinaxNOW. STANDARD F assay could be a valuable tool for diagnosis of invasive pneumococcal disease.

Growth Curve of S. Pneumoniae

Journal of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Research, 2022
Pneumocococcus or S.pneumoniae, a member of Gram-positive Streptococcus Mitis group is capable of causing several severe diseases like bacterial pneumonia, meningitis, bronchitis, otitis media (mid-ear infection). In order to stop these diseases, the preventive therapy appears to be an appropriate option because of our antibiotic resistance crisis born

Bacterial pneumonia

Postgraduate Medicine, 1993
Bacterial pneumonia isn't what it used to be. The most common causes, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae, are developing strains that are resistant to powerful antibiotics: How do you choose a therapeutic agent? New organisms are being discovered to be culprits in this disease: How do you keep track of them?

CHARACTERIZATION OF S. PNEUMONIAE PNEUMONIA-INDUCED MULTIPLE ORGAN DYSFUNCTION SYNDROME

Shock, 2009
Streptococcus pneumoniae, a gram-positive bacteria, is the most common cause of community-acquired pneumonia. It is a common cause of septic shock with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) resulting in significant mortality. Gram-positive mouse models of sepsis with MODS are required to examine mechanisms of immune responses in severe sepsis.

S. pneumoniae genome: closure beckons

Trends in Microbiology, 2001
More than 90% of the genome of the macrolide- and tetracycline-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae type 19F has been sequenced, according to a report in Microbial Drug Resistance. The genetic data give a unique insight into the molecular events responsible for resistance. It is suggested that the sequenced strain participated in a previous gene transfer

S-adenosylmethionine concentrations in diagnosis of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia

The Lancet, 2003
Pneumocystis carinii is unable to synthesise S-adenosylmethionine and thus scavenges this intermediate. We aimed to test whether measurement of concentrations of this metabolic intermediate in plasma could provide a new method for rapid diagnosis of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP).

Identifikation essentieller Gene in S. pneumoniae, S. aureus und H. influenzae

2013
