The Need for a Revision of Fluoroquinolone Breakpoints for Interpretation of Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Feline Bacterial Isolates

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agents, enrofloxacin and marbofloxacin, were approved in the United States for cats in 1990 and 2001, respectively. In 2023, revised breakpoints for testing isolates from dogs were published. These canine breakpoints are discordant with the current feline breakpoints.

Microbiome and Metaproteome of Craniofacial Implant Regions in Health and Disease

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Craniofacial defects from cancer surgery led to functional, aesthetic, and psychological challenges. Rehabilitation with craniofacial implants addresses these issues by improving prosthesis retention through osseointegration and providing predictable cosmetic results. However, maintaining a healthy transcutaneous region is essential

Impact of Dental Status on Heart Transplantation Outcomes

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Oral infections and poor dental health may contribute to systemic complications after heart transplantation, yet data on their impact is limited. In the absence of standardized dental guidelines for transplant candidates, this study evaluated preoperative dental status and its association with post‐transplant outcomes.

Identification of β‐galactosidases along the secretory pathway of Nicotiana benthamiana that collectively hamper engineering of galactose‐extended glycans on recombinant glycoproteins

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Glycosylation is an important aspect for many biopharmaceuticals, including vaccines against parasitic helminths. Plants, especially Nicotiana benthamiana, have proven to be excellent production hosts for biopharmaceuticals with tailor‐made glycosylation.

Successful Treatment of Severe Purpura Fulminans With Anakinra

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpura fulminans (PF) is a rare, often fatal pediatric condition characterized by intravascular thrombosis and hemorrhagic infarction of the skin. A timely diagnosis and treatment are paramount to prevent the involvement of internal organs, causing disseminated intravascular coagulation and gangrene of the extremities.
