Evaluation of Fat and Cartilage Implant for Cases of Empty Nose Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesZagazig University Medical Journal
Background: A lot of materials have been used to reconstruct the Empty Nose Syndrome (ENS) patient’s deficient anatomy including autografts (cartilage, bone, and fat), and allograft (alloderm). This work aimed for comparing the clinical outcomes, and the

Dolphin Longevity and Long‐Term Site Fidelity in the Mississippi Sound: Insights From a 1982 Health Assessment

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Current photo‐ID surveys have identified 10 common bottlenose dolphins that were originally freeze‐branded from a health assessment in the Mississippi Sound from 1982. These dolphins have experienced long‐term site fidelity with confirmed ages being above 30+ years old, and one individual being 47 years old.

When One Matters More: Keystone Niche Individuals Shape Population‐Level Niches in Ectothermic Vertebrates

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 330, Issue 2, Page 131-141, October 2026.
The recently proposed concept of Keystone Niche Individuals, that is, individuals that disproportionately influence their population's niche width, provides a framework to explore how individuals shape ecological niches. We applied this framework to a dataset of 482 salamanders across 21 populations and seven taxa to assess the prevalence and ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 17, Page 2420-2436, September 2026.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
