The quest for the best target genes for RNAi‐mediated pest control
A major challenge for RNAi mediated pest control is the identification of the most effective RNAi target genes from the pool of ~37% of all genes that are essential. Effective RNAi target genes are predominantly highly conserved genes serving basic cellular functions such as protein degradation.

Plant synthetic biology‐based biofortification, strategies and recent progresses
ABSTRACT Hidden hunger, caused by chronic micronutrient deficiencies, affects billions of people worldwide and remains a critical public health issue despite progress in food production. Biofortification offers a promising solution by enhancing nutrient levels within plant tissues through traditional breeding or advanced biotechnologies.

Hybridization and gene expression: Beyond differentially expressed genes
Abstract Gene expression has a key role in reproductive isolation, and studies of hybrid gene expression have identified mechanisms causing hybrid sterility. Here, we review the evidence for altered gene expression following hybridization and outline the mechanisms shown to contribute to altered gene expression in hybrids. Transgressive gene expression,
