The Mitochondrial Genomes of the Nudibranch Mollusks, Melibe leonina and Tritonia diomedea, and Their Impact on Gastropod Phylogeny.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
The phylogenetic relationships among certain groups of gastropods have remained unresolved in recent studies, especially in the diverse subclass Opisthobranchia, where nudibranchs have been poorly represented.

Mucopolysaccharides secreted by the sea slug Elysia crispata incorporate carbon via kleptoplast photosynthesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Some Sacoglossa sea slugs feed on macroalgae and sequester chloroplasts in the cells of their digestive diverticulum. In some species, mostly within the genus Elysia, the stolen chloroplasts – kleptoplasts – remain photosynthetically competent for weeks ...

Preservation and remodelling of chloroplast lipids in photosynthetic sea slug host cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The capacity to retain long-term functional algal chloroplasts within animal cells is a singular trait of certain Sacoglossa sea slugs. The sequestered chloroplasts (kleptoplasts) confer photosynthetic capacity to the host.

Photosynthesis and the role of plastids (kleptoplastids) in Sacoglossa (Heterobranchia, Gastropoda): a short review

open access: yesAQUATIC SCIENCE & MANAGEMENT, 2015
Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Fotosintesis dan peran plastida [kleptoplastids] pada Sacoglossa [Heterobranchia, Gastropoda]: tinjauan singkat. In this manuscript I will give a short summary of our knowledge on photosyn-thesis in the enigmatic gastropod group Sacoglossa.
