Free-Standing GaMnAs Nanomachined Sheets for van der Pauw Magnetotransport Measurements

open access: yesMicromachines, 2016
We report on the realization of free-standing GaMnAs epilayer sheets using nanomachining techniques. By optimizing the growth conditions of the sacrificial Al0.75Ga0.25As layer, free-standing metallic GaMnAs (with ~6% Mn) microsheets (with TC ~85 K) with

Controlling the oxidation and wettability of liquid metal via femtosecond laser for high-resolution flexible electronics

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
Liquid metal-based electronic devices are attracting increasing attention owing to their excellent flexibility and high conductivity. However, a simple way to realize liquid metal electronics on a microscale without photolithography is still challenging.

Thin Film Encapsulation for RF MEMS in 5G and Modern Telecommunication Systems

open access: yesSensors, 2020
In this work, SiNx/a-Si/SiNx caps on conductive coplanar waveguides (CPWs) are proposed for thin film encapsulation of radio-frequency microelectromechanical systems (RF MEMS), in view of the application of these devices in fifth generation (5G) and ...

Smoothing and surface planarization of sacrificial layers in MEMS technology

open access: yesMicrosystem Technologies, 2013
In this work we present a novel technology for tailoring the edges of a polymer sacrificial layer by combining multiple techniques. Standard polymers like Shipley Microposit S1818 for the sacrificial layers and gold as a structural layer have been used for our purposes.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

The main structural-phase states of interaction between model corium of a nuclear reactor and a sacrificial material based on Al2O3 and a lead layer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Nuclear Reactor Design and Technology
This article presents the results of post-experimental studies of the interaction of model light water reactor corium with a candidate sacrificial material (SM) based on Al2O3 (corundum) and a lead layer.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
