ABSTRACT Melanistic lesions, including non‐raised black areas due to proliferations of melanocytes and melanomacrophages in the dermis and epidermis, as well as raised black areas consistent with melanoma, are described in brown bullhead (BBH) Ameiurus nebulosus from three water bodies in the northeastern United States and Quebec, Canada.

ABSTRACT Recreational fisheries in remote regions often operate under limited regulation and data availability, presenting challenges for sustainable management. Diego Garcia, located within the Chagos Marine Protected Area, hosts a unique recreational reef fishery embedded within a highly protected environment. We assessed the stock status of five key

Age and Growth of Quillback Rockfish (Sebastes maliger) at High Latitude
Data on age and growth of fishes is critical for effective management; however, growth rates documented in one location may not be representative of other locations, especially for species that occur across wide geographic ranges.

Abstract Rivers and streams exhibit inherent variability in environmental conditions, particularly in water temperature and stream discharge. These factors can impact fish growth through both direct (i.e., physiological) and indirect (i.e., ecosystem productivity) mechanisms.

Using a newly developed nuclear Genotyping‐in‐Thousands‐by‐sequencing (GT‐seq) panel that unambiguously differentiates Japanese and Pacific Sardine, we report the first detection of Sardinops spp. hybrids. Previous genomic analyses of Pacific Sardine in the Northeast Pacific detected the presence of Japanese Sardine along the west coast of North ...

Striated surgeonfish (Ctenochaetus striatus) and Achilles tang (Acanthurus achilles) are two surgeonfish species commonly harvested for subsistence on Miti‘āro, Cook Islands. Using individuals collected by local fishers, this study provides the first age‐ and growth‐based assessment of these species from Miti‘āro.

The population dynamics of the blue‐barred parrotfish (Scarus ghobban) was examined to estimate key life‐history traits of this important reef fishery species in the Solomon Islands. The population was dominated by individuals within the 220–239 mm size class, corresponding to a modal age of 1‐year‐olds.
