A numerical approach to the keel design of a sailing yacht
Ocean Engineering, 2008This paper describes an approach to the keel design of a sailing yacht. The related software, which is fully automatic, leads to the optimal shape by modifying the surface used to define the keel planform. B-spline curves and surfaces have been used due to their ability in following complex shapes.

Modelling multiple yacht sailing interactions between upwind sailing yachts
Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2011An approach for enhancing the realism of yacht fleet race simulations based on a lifting line method is developed. The wake of an upwind sailing yacht is represented as a single heeled horseshoe vortex and image system. At each time step, changes in vortex strength are convected into the wake as a pair of vortex line elements.
