A comparison of personality in the common and Bolivian squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus and Saimiri boliviensis). [PDF]
Personality has been studied in all of the great apes, many Old World monkey species, but only a handful of New World monkey species. Because understanding the personalities of New World monkeys is crucial to understanding personality evolution in primates, we used the Hominoid Personality Questionnaire to assess personality in 55 common squirrel ...

Herpesvirus saimiri strain variability [PDF]
Herpesvirus saimiri was isolated from 22 squirrel monkeys by cocultivation of peripheral lymphocytes with permissive owl monkey kidney monolayer cells. Comparison of virion DNA fragments produced from restriction endonuclease digestion was used as a sensitive measure of strain variability.

Molecular data highlight hybridization in squirrel monkeys (Saimiri, Cebidae) [PDF]
Hybridization has been reported increasingly frequently in recent years, fueling the debate on its role in the evolutionary history of species. Some studies have shown that hybridization is very common in captive New World primates, and hybrid offspring ...

Transformation by Herpesvirus Saimiri
Publisher Summary Sequences contained within the saimiri transformation- associated protein (STP) gene region of herpesvirus (h), saimiri strain plays an important and necessary role in cell growth transformation by the virus. These sequences are not required for replication of the virus. Many important aspects of the transformation process, however,

Herpesvirus saimiri and Herpesvirus ateles
Herpesvirus saimiri (H. saimiri) is a ubiquitous agent of squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), a primate species native to the South American rain forests. The virus can easily be isolated from blood and tissue-culture cells of most healthy squirrel monkeys, and there is no evidence so far that H. saimiri is pathogenic in its natural host.

Macroscopic aspects of Saimiri sciureus dura mater [PDF]
Saimiri sciureus is a small New World primate (NHP) commonly called macaco-de-cheiro that inhabits the tropical forests of the Amazon basin. Anatomical features are not well studied in most primates, and the encephalic morphology and related structures ...
