Hominoid-specific calretinin-immunopositivity of the optic radiation (geniculocalcarine tract). [PDF]

open access: yesAnat Rec (Hoboken)
Calretinin‐immunostained coronal section through the primary (V1) and extrastriate (ExSt) cortex of the lar gibbon. Note that the optic radiation (OR) is strongly calretinin‐immunoreactive. This calretinin‐immunopositivity of the OR distinguishes the Hominoidea from other primates in terms of the neurochemistry of the OR.

Anatomical Description of the Main Gyri and Sulci of the Telencephalon of Alouatta belzebul. [PDF]

open access: yesAnat Histol Embryol
ABSTRACT The Alouatta belzebul is a species of howler monkey, of the Atelidae family and genus Alouatta. It is endemic in Brazil and has a separate geographic distribution, with two populations occurring: in the Amazon and in the Atlantic Forest on the coast of Northeast Brazil. Herpesvirus saimiri [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 2001
Herpesvirus saimiri(saimiriine herpesvirus 2) is the classical prototype of the γ2–herpesviruses or rhadinoviruses, which also contains a human member, the Kaposi's sarcoma–associated herpesvirus. The T–lymphotropicHerpesvirus saimiriestablishes specific replicative and persistent conditions in different primate host species.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Aortic Thrombosis in a Capuchin Monkey (Sapajus apella). [PDF]

open access: yesJ Med Primatol
ABSTRACT This case report describes a capuchin monkey (Sapajus apella) that presented with bilateral paralysis and cold hind limbs. Clinical examination, including ultrasound imaging, revealed dilated cardiomyopathy and aortic thrombosis. Macroscopic, histopathological, and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed these findings.

Structural proteins of Herpesvirus saimiri [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1983
Herpesvirus saimiri particles were purified from productively infected owl monkey kidney cell cultures, and the virion polypeptides were analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. A total of 21 predominant proteins were found in lysates of H. saimiri 11 particles by Coomassie blue staining or by [35S]methionine labeling and autoradiography; all ...

Immunoprecipitation as a tool for studying humoral immunity of natural and experimental hosts of Herpesvirus saimiri [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Herpesvirus saimiri strain 11 and attenuated H. saimiri strain 11 proteins synthesized during the lytic cycle of virus replication were used for immunoprecipitation with various sera from natural (Saimiri sciureus) and experimental (Saguinus nigricollis,

Characterization of satellite DNAs in squirrel monkeys genus Saimiri (Cebidae, Platyrrhini) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020

Long-term in vitro culture of Plasmodium vivax isolates from Madagascar maintained in Saimiri boliviensis blood

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2017
Background Plasmodium vivax is the most prevalent human malaria parasite and is likely to increase proportionally as malaria control efforts more rapidly impact the prevalence of Plasmodium falciparum. Despite the prominence of P.

Is Mixed-Species Living Cognitively Enriching? Enclosure Use and Welfare in Two Captive Groups of Tufted Capuchins (Sapajus apella) and Squirrel Monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Non-human primates have complex relationships with conspecifics and also other animals with whom they share their habitat in the wild. Some primates, such as capuchin monkeys (Sapajus apella) and squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), naturally associate ...
