Mycobacterium kansasii infection in squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus sciureus)
Journal of Medical Primatology, 1995Abstract: This report documents asymptomatic infections of Mycobacterium kansasii in four of five tuberculin positive squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus sciureus). The mycobacterial DNA amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from a bronchial lymph node had no affinity for the species specific probes of M. tuberculosis, M.

Renal Disease in Squirrel Monkeys (Saimiri sciureus)
Veterinary Pathology, 1981Renal lithiasis, pyelonephritis, and glomerulonephritis were common in our colony of Brazilian phenotype squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), with glomerulonephritis being a major cause of mortality in adult animals. Squirrel monkey glomerulonephritis was divided into four major classifications, based on light and electron microscopy, similar to those

Saimiri sciureus (Squirrel monkey)
1973The karyotypes shown are a gift of Dr. T. C. Jones (New England Regional Primate Research Center, Southborough, Massachusetts) and were prepared from lymphocyte cultures. The two recognized phenotypes also differ in karyotype: the male came from Leticia (Colombia), and the female, from Iquitos (Peru).

Cytogenetics of the squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus)
1975Squirrel monkeys occur in nature in widely separated geographic regions of Central and South America. These animals are of value in many aspects of biomedical research for which purposes they have been imported into the United States and Europe and are being reproduced in breeding colonies on both of these continents.

Lipid composition of squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus) saliva
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1985The content and composition of lipids in saliva of healthy caries-free squirrel monkeys were investigated. The dialyzed and lyophilized saliva on extraction with chloroform/methanol yielded 8.0 +/- 0.9 mg of lipids/100 ml of saliva. Following fractionation on silicic acid column, 30.9% of lipids were found in the neutral lipid fraction, 58.8% in the ...

Reconciliation in captive Guyanese squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus)
American Journal of Primatology, 2000The tendency for agonistic interaction to increase the probability of friendly interaction between social partners has been demonstrated across a range of Old World primates. While research on such post-conflict behavior proceeds into an hypothesis-testing phase, new comparative information must accumulate to provide full phylogenetic perspective on ...

Ascites production in the squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus)
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1981A method is described for inducing the production of large amounts of ascitic fluid (AF) in the squirrel monkey Saimiri sciureus. The total amount of protein in the induced AF is close to 60% of that in the serum. Electrophoretic analysis of serum and AF samples from the same monkey revealed similar protein patterns, including gamma globulins. Antibody

Laparo‐uterotomy in Squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus)
Journal of Small Animal Practice, 1970ABSTRACTA laparo‐uterotomy technique is described in the Squirrel monkey for obtaining endometrium for electron microscopic studies which has proved successful in our hands. Sernylan used in combination with Nembutal has proved a very effective and safe anaesthetic with no apparent ill effect after repeated administration.Résumé.
