Disseminated Histiocytic Sarcoma in a Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata). [PDF]
ABSTRACT Histiocytic sarcomas are rare in humans and primates. Particularly, only a few examples in nonhuman primates have been reported. This is the first report of histiocytic sarcoma in Macaca fuscata. The final diagnosis was made using immunohistochemical analysis.

Visual acuity of “Saimiri sciureus” [PDF]
The visual acuity of the squirrel monkey was studied by the method of least separable lines. Five animals were studied in two different apparatuses by two different experimenters. Thresholds of 75% correct were established at 0.84 min. of visual angle. Decline in correct responses was well coordinated with increasing latency of response.

From armadillos to sloths: Patterns and variations in xenarthran coronary anatomy
Abstract Species of the superorder Xenarthra play a vital ecological role in the Neotropics. Despite their evolutionary significance, anatomical studies on their coronary circulation remain scarce. This study investigated the coronary anatomy of 82 hearts from nine Xenarthra species across the Dasypodidae, Myrmecophagidae, and Bradypodidae.

Molecular data highlight hybridization in squirrel monkeys (Saimiri, Cebidae)
Hybridization has been reported increasingly frequently in recent years, fueling the debate on its role in the evolutionary history of species. Some studies have shown that hybridization is very common in captive New World primates, and hybrid offspring ...
