Maximal Swimming Speed Explains Differences in Habitat Use Among Invasive Ponto‐Caspian Dikerogammarus Species (Crustacea, Amphipoda)

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
The three invasive Ponto‐Caspian Dikerogammarus species (D. bispinosus, D. haemobaphes, and D. villosus) show niche differentiation along the current velocity gradient. In the present study, we experimentally measured their maximal swimming speeds to test whether they coincide with their tolerances for currents.

Displacement and Stress Function-based Linear and Quadratic Triangular Elements for Saint-Venant Torsional Problems

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension, 2018
Torsional problems commonly arise in frame structural members subjected to unsymmetrical loading. Saint-Venant proposed a semi inverse method to develop the exact theory of torsional bars of general cross sections.

Saint-Venant principle in geotechnics [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2010
The problem of determining the stresses in the ground mass are important for calculating the strength, stability of soils, and also their deformation by external forces and its own weight. There are three basic mathematical methods of solving the ...

Experiencing Extreme Hunger in Anorexia Nervosa Recovery: A Qualitative Analysis of Reddit Narratives

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, Volume 59, Issue 8, Page 1713-1723, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Recovery from anorexia nervosa involves psychological and social adjustments that extend beyond weight restoration. Online forums increasingly serve as spaces where recovery experiences are openly shared, including accounts of “extreme hunger” during refeeding—a phenomenon that has not been reported in the clinical literature.

Simulating the Influence of Buildings on Flood Inundation in Urban Areas

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
Two-dimensional hydraulic modeling is fundamental to simulate flood events in urban area. Key factors to reach optimal results are detailed information about domain geometry and utility of hydrodynamic models to integrate the full or simplified Saint ...

Exploring the Influence of Morphologic Heterogeneity and Discharge on Downstream Transport in Streams With Multiple Logjams: 2. Insight From Numerical Models

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Logjams in streams create complex morphologic features such as pools, bars, and branching channels that enhance stream water storage and force water through the streambed. We examine how these features alter solute retention in stream corridors as discharge increases, backwaters expand, new channels activate, and jams become more submerged ...

MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF THE FUNCTIONING PROCESS OF A RUBBER BUSHING ON THE HOOKE AND SAINT-VENANT ELEMENTS’ BASIS

open access: yesВестник СибАДИ, 2019
Introduction. Rubber bushings are important parts of the spring systems of modern vehicles. The properties determine not only the comfort of car movement, but also affect the elastic suspension characteristics. When a bushing is deformed, linear sections

A Scalable Approach for Identification of Reach‐Scale Hydraulic Processes to Support Flood Prediction Models

open access: yesJAWRA Journal of the American Water Resources Association, Volume 62, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Simplification of channel routing models results in errors in streamflow predictions and uncertain flood forecasts. Conceptual frameworks have been proposed to prescribe a heterogeneous routing scheme that incorporates greater complexity where necessary, but their implementation is constrained by the need for hydraulic data that is not widely ...
