Sodium salt medium-chain fatty acids and Bacillus-based probiotic strategies to improve growth and intestinal health of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2017
Background The increased demand for fish protein has led to the intensification of aquaculture practices which are hampered by nutritional and health factors affecting growth performance. To solve these problems, antibiotics have been used for many years

Bohr's inequality revisited

open access: yes, 2011
We survey several significant results on the Bohr inequality and presented its generalizations in some new approaches. These are some Bohr type inequalities of Hilbert space operators related to the matrix order and the Jensen inequality.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Gruss inequality for some types of positive linear maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Assuming a unitarily invariant norm $|||\cdot|||$ is given on a two-sided ideal of bounded linear operators acting on a separable Hilbert space, it induces some unitarily invariant norms $|||\cdot|||$ on matrix algebras $\mathcal{M}_n$ for all finite ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Interactions between gilthead seabream intestinal transcriptome and microbiota upon Enteromyxum leei infection: a multi–omic approach

open access: yesAnimal Microbiome
Background The enteric myxozoan parasite Enteromyxum leei is an important problem in gilthead seabream aquaculture invading the intestinal epithelium and leading to chronic intestinal inflammation, poor food conversion rates, cachexia, and mortalities ...

Angle Preserving Mappings

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we give some characterizations of orthogonality preserving mappings between inner product spaces. Furthermore, we study the linear mappings that preserve some angles.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

General Anesthesia Control Mode Versus Local Anesthesia with Intravenous Sedation for Day Care Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation

open access: yesNational Journal of Community Medicine, 2011
Comparative study has been undertaken to evaluate the anaesthetic techniques either by General anaesthesia with control mode (GA) or Local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation (LA) in laparoscopic tubal ligation in 60 female patients in the age group ...

Macrofungal diversity in community-managed sal (Shorea robusta) forests in central Nepal

open access: yesMycology, 2015
Macrofungi constitute a group of the high-value forest resources worldwide. In this paper, we report species richness and composition of the macrofungi in sal (Shorea robusta) forests of mid-hill central Nepal, which were managed for 4–29 years by the ...
