Synthesis and Characterization of Salicylate Derivatives of Dibutyl Sn(IV)-Ti(IV)-μ-Oxoisopropoxide

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2012
New Salicylate derivatives of organoheterobimetallic-μ-oxoisopropoxide [Bu2SnO2Ti2(OPri)6] have been synthesized by the thermal condensation of μ-oxoisopropoxide compound with different salicylates in different molar ratios (1:1-1:4) yielded the ...

Thermogenesis‐derived spatiotemporal microclimates guide pollinator movement to ensure pollination

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Alocasia odora's microclimatic heterogeneity guides Colocasiomyia fly movement within its inflorescence. During the female stage, midday heat in the upper spadix pushes flies down to the cooler female zone. During the male stage, nocturnal warmth in the upper part pulls flies upward and spathe constriction closes the lower female chamber.

Volatile organic compounds orchestrating microbiome‐mediated crop resilience: Prospects and challenges for sustainable agriculture

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Herbivory triggers the production of green leaf volatiles, and dense planting results in induces increased concentration of linalool emission in maize canopies. These volatiles activate plant‐soil feedback that enriches beneficial rhizosphere bacteria, enhancing resistance, though sometimes at a growth cost, thereby offering new avenues for sustainable

Assessing the microstructure of simple rhamphothecae in chickens (Aves: Galliformes: Gallus gallus domesticus)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Simple rhamphotheca are externally homogeneous but internally are composed of several corneous layers with varying hardness. Areas under more mechanical stress such as the rostral portion and the tomia are significantly harder than other areas. Abstract Corneous sheaths on the jaws of beaked tetrapods, or rhamphothecae, are classified as simple or ...

SALICYLATE OF LITHIUM. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1887
Dear Sir: —Allow me to call your attention to a few misleading statements in the issue ofThe Journal, on page 637, in the letter from London. Your correspondent speaks of two new salicylates attracting attention, or being recently introduced into therapeutics, namely: salicylate of mercury and of lithia (lithium).

Systemic acquired resistance: an emerging role for jasmonates in local signal biogenesis, translocation and distal signal decoding

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Jasmonate signalling underpins establishment of plant systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Activation of the hypersensitive response (HR) not only contains the pathogen but establishes broad spectrum resistance in unchallenged leaves. The strong burst of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species initiating the HR results in lipid peroxidation (illustrated by ...

Domestication‐associated reduction of methyl salicylate in tomato root and its significance for resistance to root‐knot nematode

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Root volatile profiling reveals domestication‐associated variation in methyl salicylate (MeSA) accumulation in tomato. Summary Methyl salicylate (MeSA) plays diverse roles in the aerial parts of plants. By contrast, its biosynthesis and function in roots remain poorly understood.
