Dissecting the genetic basis of climatic adaptation in wild relatives (Malus baccata) for climate‐resilient apple breeding

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This comprehensive map of genetic variation in wild apple (Malus baccata) and set of key genes associated with adaptation to temperature, precipitation, and soil properties establishes a foundation for breeding climate‐resilient apple cultivars and conserving the genetic resources of wild crop relatives.

The Synergy Between a Silver‐Ruthenium Antimicrobial and Aminoglycosides Is Based on Severe Macromolecular Damage

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
AGXX enhances aminoglycoside activity against multidrug‐resistant pathogens such as uropathogenic Escherichia coli by increasing reactive oxygen species, causing protein aggregation and DNA damage. This effect is reduced by oxygen limitation or antioxidants. Polyphosphate protects cells from oxidative damage.

Transcriptomics reveal the involvement of reactive oxygen species production and sequestration during stigma development and pollination in Fraxinus mandshurica

open access: yesForestry Research
Stigma development and successful pollination are essential for the continuous existence of flowering plants. However, the specific mechanisms regulating these important processes are not well understood. In this study, we investigated the development of

Effect and Mechanism of Biochar Amendment on Saline-Alkali Soils

open access: yesLand Science
This study investigates the dual impacts of biochar amendment on the physicochemical properties and microbial community of saline-alkali soils, and delves into the underlying mechanisms. Field plots were established in a representative saline-alkali region, with treatments varying in biochar feedstock and application rate.

PlantRG: A Comprehensive and User‐Friendly Database for Plant Resistance Gene Analogs (RGAs)

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resistance genes are critical for plant defence against biotic stresses, and building a comprehensive, integrated data resource platform for these genes holds great significance for plant research and agriculture. Here, we developed PlantRG (http://plantrg.bio2db.com), a user‐friendly plant resistance gene database, which is built on 2 163 397

A TAF10‐ERF109 Transcriptional Module Directs Flavonoid‐Based Stress Resilience and Yield Enhancement in Foxtail Millet and Wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To ensure sustainable agricultural production under escalating environmental constraints such as drought and salinity, innovative strategies are urgently needed. Here, we reveal in foxtail millet (Setaria italica) that transcription factors TAF10 and ERF109 form a functional complex which co‐activates the expression of key flavonoid ...

Nursery pot size, not planting density, affects vegetation performance in a restored semi‐arid wetland

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Coastal wetland restoration often involves planting nursery‐grown potted plants to accelerate vegetation development, particularly when stressful conditions or insufficient source material inhibit natural recruitment. Under these conditions, planting more densely or larger, more developed plants may increase vegetation survival ...

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of Ubiquitin-specific protease gene family in maize (Zea mays L.)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Ubiquitin-specific proteases (UBPs) are a large family of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). They are widespread in plants and are critical for plant growth, development, and response to external stresses.

Advances in Floating Solar Desalination Systems

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This review critically classifies floating solar desalination systems into five main categories and compares their thermal performance, productivity and technological limitations. Membrane‐based and multieffect systems showed the highest efficiencies, while traditional designs remain limited by heat losses and scaling.

Impact of Methylparaben on Cumulus Cell DNA Integrity and Porcine Oocyte Developmental Competence In Vitro

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 46, Issue 9, Page 2985-2996, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Parabens (PBs) are compounds widely used as preservatives in personal care products, food, and pharmaceuticals. Methylparaben (MePB) is the most used by different industries due to its chemical properties and low cost. The high daily human exposure to these compounds has raised concerns about their potential effects on health, particularly on ...
