Differential physiological responses of grafted cabernet sauvignon grapes to salt and saline–alkali stress: The dual role of VvGAD1 in GABA-mediated tolerance

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Saline–alkali stress inflicts more severe damage on grapevines compared to salt stress alone. Grafting onto stress-tolerant rootstocks represents a key strategy for improving crop resilience, making it essential to understand how such rootstocks modulate

Dissecting the genetic basis of climatic adaptation in wild relatives (Malus baccata) for climate‐resilient apple breeding

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This comprehensive map of genetic variation in wild apple (Malus baccata) and set of key genes associated with adaptation to temperature, precipitation, and soil properties establishes a foundation for breeding climate‐resilient apple cultivars and conserving the genetic resources of wild crop relatives.

The Synergy Between a Silver‐Ruthenium Antimicrobial and Aminoglycosides Is Based on Severe Macromolecular Damage

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
AGXX enhances aminoglycoside activity against multidrug‐resistant pathogens such as uropathogenic Escherichia coli by increasing reactive oxygen species, causing protein aggregation and DNA damage. This effect is reduced by oxygen limitation or antioxidants. Polyphosphate protects cells from oxidative damage.

PlantRG: A Comprehensive and User‐Friendly Database for Plant Resistance Gene Analogs (RGAs)

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resistance genes are critical for plant defence against biotic stresses, and building a comprehensive, integrated data resource platform for these genes holds great significance for plant research and agriculture. Here, we developed PlantRG (http://plantrg.bio2db.com), a user‐friendly plant resistance gene database, which is built on 2 163 397

Evaluation of soda saline-alkali tolerance in six Medicago sativa varieties

open access: yesSiliao yanjiu
This study aimed to investigate the effects of soda saline-alkali stress on seed germination in six Medicago sativa varieties. The dish filter paper germination method was employed, sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) were mixed at ...

Potassium Fulvate Alleviates Salt–Alkali Stress and Promotes Comprehensive Growth of Oats in Saline–Alkali Soils of the Qaidam Basin

open access: yesPlants
Soil salinization limits global agricultural sustainability, and extensive areas of saline–alkaline soils on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau remain underutilized.

A TAF10‐ERF109 Transcriptional Module Directs Flavonoid‐Based Stress Resilience and Yield Enhancement in Foxtail Millet and Wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To ensure sustainable agricultural production under escalating environmental constraints such as drought and salinity, innovative strategies are urgently needed. Here, we reveal in foxtail millet (Setaria italica) that transcription factors TAF10 and ERF109 form a functional complex which co‐activates the expression of key flavonoid ...

Nursery pot size, not planting density, affects vegetation performance in a restored semi‐arid wetland

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Coastal wetland restoration often involves planting nursery‐grown potted plants to accelerate vegetation development, particularly when stressful conditions or insufficient source material inhibit natural recruitment. Under these conditions, planting more densely or larger, more developed plants may increase vegetation survival ...

Identification of DREB gene family in foxtail millet (Setaria italica) and analysis of its expression pattern in response to abiotic stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Dehydration response element binding proteins (DREBs) play a vital role in transcriptional regulators in enhancing plant tolerance to abiotic stress. To investigate the biological functions of the DREB gene family (SiDREBs) in foxtail millet (Setaria ...

Advances in Floating Solar Desalination Systems

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This review critically classifies floating solar desalination systems into five main categories and compares their thermal performance, productivity and technological limitations. Membrane‐based and multieffect systems showed the highest efficiencies, while traditional designs remain limited by heat losses and scaling.
