Saline-alkali stress is a major abiotic stress factor in agricultural productivity. Oat (Avena sativa L.) is a saline-alkali tolerant crop species. However, molecular mechanisms of saline-alkali tolerance in oats remain unclear.

Site‐Specific Hydroxide Formation and Corrosion on Mg Nanocrystals
Using single‐crystalline Mg nanocrystals, this study uncovers the intrinsic corrosion initiation mechanism. The stability of the protective Mg(OH)2 film depends on its interfacial coherence with the Mg substrate. Corrosion initiates at exposed corners, where film coverage is incomplete.

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

Histone Modification Complex JMJ704‐HDA709 Negatively Regulates Salinity Tolerance in Rice
This study reveals that the rice histone demethylase JMJ704 interacts with HDA709―a H3K9ac deacetylase characterized herein―to form a chromatin‐modifying complex. Under salt stress, OsWRKY72 recruits this complex through interaction with JMJ704 to target loci, repressing the expression of oxidative stress and salt‐responsive genes via removal of ...

Soda saline-alkali significantly hinders rice growth, phosphorus utilization efficiency, and yield formation. The application of biochar can alleviate the adverse effects of saline-alkali stress on crops. However, there is limited research on the interaction between biochar and phosphorus fertilizer concerning ionic accumulation, phosphorus utilization

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.

Saline–alkali stress is a significant abiotic stressor that affects the growth of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). Our previous studies reported that the homologous genes SlWRKY80 and SlWRKY81 can both resist saline-alkali stress by mediating the JA ...
