Fungal and marine shell fouling in desalination plant equipment

open access: yesJournal of Water Reuse and Desalination, 2019
The Saudi Arabian Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) aims to maintain an uninterrupted desalinated water output and has tasked its Desalination Technologies Research Institute (DTRI) with trouble-shooting operational problems and unusual events ...

A Root Density Tradeoff in an Okra-Assisted Subsurface Pipe Drainage System for Amelioration of Saline Soil

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Subsurface pipe drainage technology can effectively improve coastal saline land in Northern China. We explored an okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.)-assisted subsurface pipe drainage system to improve the water and salt discharge performance and benefits ...

Evaluating suitability of source water for a proposed SWRO plant location

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
SWRO membranes are characterized by their ability to reject particles of larger than 0.001 μm diameter and approximately 200 molecular weight. This indicates the selectiveness of the SWRO membranes and the relative ease by which they can be clogged or ...

The Water Salinization [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Plants & Agriculture Research, 2014
The water salinization is a widespread phenomenon in the world and generally, it is accompanied by salinization of soils. This makes very hard to grow any crops because to irrigate with salt water often destroys crops and fertility of soils. To mitigate such issues, within a geographical area of Sicily involved in such problems and declared at risk of ...

Effect of Deaeration and Sodium Sulfite Addition to MSF Make-up Water on Corrosion of Evaporator and Heat Exchanger Materials

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 1996
A near zero oxygen level is normally maintained in MSF make-up water by mechanical deaeration followed by Na2SO3 addition. Is the complete removal of dissolved oxygen from the make up water beneficial to evaporator and heat exchanger materials which ...

Effects of Organic Amendments on Soil Pore Structure under Waterlogging Stress

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Organic amendments are a proven method of reducing soil erosion. However, the effect of organic additives on the pore properties of soils waterlogged by extreme rainfall has been minimally investigated.

MICROECONOMICS OF IRRIGATION WITH SALINE WATER

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2002
Water management and reuse at the field level are analyzed under saline, limited drainage conditions. A function relating crop yield and deep percolation flows to applied water and salinity concentration is developed. This function fits simulated data well and is tractable for theoretical and empirical analysis of irrigation economics.

Long-term effects of biochar application on the growth and physiological characteristics of maize

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Biochar, as a soil conditioner, has been widely used to promote the growth of maize, but most of the current research is short-term experiments, which limits the research on the long-term effects of biochar, especially the physiological mechanism of ...

Evaluating the Performance of salt Leaching in Frozen Saline Soils [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2022
The movement of water and solutes have received the attention of many scientific researchers over the past few years. Saline soils contain a high content of salt that is deposited in micropores. Therefore, it is necessary to leaching these soils during a

Arabidopsis Glutathione-S-Transferases GSTF11 and GSTU20 Function in Aliphatic Glucosinolate Biosynthesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Glutathione (GSH) conjugation with intermediates is required for the biosynthesis of glucosinolate (GSL) by serving as a sulfur supply. Glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) primarily work on GSH conjugation, suggesting their involvement in GSL metabolism ...
