Salinity and Drought Stress in Rice
1990Understanding the physiological responses of plants to saline soils and drought is more important today than ever before since genetic engineering is providing techniques by which these responses can be altered. This paper reviews some of the current ideas about how osmotic and ionic stresses affect plants, and about physiological adaptations that ...

Salinity Stress in Harpacticoid Copepods
Estuaries, 1979Three species of intertidal harpacticoid copepods,Tigriopus japonicus, Tachidius brevicornis andTisbe sp., were tested for their response to salinities ranging from 0‰ to 210‰. At 90‰Tigriopus became dormant, but could be reanimated if placed in 30‰ seawater within 18 hours.Tachidius became dormant at 60‰ but could also be revived if placed in 30 ...

Salinity Stress: “Omics” Approaches
2017Salinity stress is one of the major threats to plant performance which leads to the significant loss of the crop production worldwide. Being polygenic in nature, salinity stress induced changes are complex to understand. On exposure to salinity stress, plants undergo various molecular, physiological, and biochemical changes to combat the stress ...

Targets of Salinity Stress in Spinach
1987The effects of salinity on growth and photosynthesis in spinach was investigated. Plants were grown hydroponically in the presence of NaCl, concentration range from 0 to 400 mM. Whole plants were harvested 5 weeks after germination. The rate of growth declined with increasing salt concentration. Both the leaves and roots were affected.

Metabolomics for Crop Improvement Against Salinity Stress
2018In the post-genomic era, increasing efforts have been done to describe the relationship between genome and phenotype in plants. It has become clear that even a complete understanding of the state of the genes, messages, and proteins in a living system does not reveal its phenotype.

Response of coriander to salinity stress
2018Salinity in the soil and irrigation water is an environmental problem and a major constraint for crop production. Coriandrum sativum as a leafy vegetable is great interest for vegetable producers in the world. However, due to gradual increase in soil and water salinity, especially in Northwest Iran, the production of this vegetable has been faced with ...
