Salinization MASS Model Version

open access: yes
This salinization simulation enables irrigation salinity, capillary rise, rainfall, leaching, salt mitigation strategies via fallowing, and other functions that are addressed in a coupled social-environment model applied to southern Mesopotamia.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Estimating the groundwater table threshold for mitigating soil salinization in the Songnen Plain of China

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Study region: The Songnen Plain is a key part of China’s largest plain, situated in northeastern China. Study focus: Soil salinization has become one of the largest ecological issues in the Songnen Plain, and regulating groundwater levels is a crucial ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Diatoms as bioindicators for tracking freshwater salinization.

open access: yes, 2023
The focus of this thesis is on the relationship of diatom (Bacilariophyta) communities to conductivity, and the utilization of this relationship for the monitoring of freshwater salinization.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Spatial Distribution and Temporal Evolution of Soil Salinization in the Oasis Irrigated Area

open access: yesAgronomy
Salinization of irrigation areas is a key environmental challenge faced by arid and semi-arid regions worldwide, and the complexity of natural environment and human activities increases the uncertainty of salinization distribution.

Seasonal Salinization Decreases Spatial Heterogeneity of Sulfate Reducing Activity

open access: yesSoil Systems, 2019
Evidence of sulfate input and reduction in coastal freshwater wetlands is often visible in the black iron monosulfide (FeS) complexes that form in iron rich reducing sediments.
