RNA interference of the ecdysone receptor gene AgEcR in a wolfberry ‐ specialized strain of Aphis gossypii Glover affects its survival and fecundity and confers resistance in transgenic goji (Lycium barbarum L.)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
AgEcR, an ecdysone receptor from Aphis gossypii, is an RNA interference (RNAi) target. Artificial diet screening of five double ‐ stranded RNA fragments identified dsAgEcR2 targeting the D/E junction as the most potent. Transgenic goji expressing dsAgEcR2 caused molting defects and reduced fecundity, suppressing population growth and offering a ...

Proteo‐transcriptomic insights into the venom composition of the ectoparasitoid Eupelmus urozonus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Integrated venom‐gland transcriptomics and venom proteomics of Eupelmus urozonus identified 316 venom proteins, including 75 secreted candidates, revealing diverse hydrolases, proteases/inhibitors and many uncharacterized effectors. Abstract BACKGROUND Ectoparasitoid venoms are ‘cocktails’ of bioactive molecules injected during oviposition to paralyze ...

Combining Oral Histories and Participatory Mapping With Veteran Fishers to Identify Long‐Term Environmental Change in a Nationally Significant River

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The detection and monitoring of environmental change is vital for sustainable river management, but historical data are often limited. This study leveraged volunteered geographic information and local ecological knowledge from experienced recreational anglers to identify historical baselines and long‐term change in the Rakaia River, a ...
