Inspiring systematic inclusion of individual affective states to enhance the quality of wild animal research

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Studies on animals continue to attract criticism, often relating to not accounting for variation, for issues with data quality, reproducibility and generalisability, yet one source of variation remains rarely systematically incorporated: differences in individuals' affective states.

Surface Micro‐Discharge Plasma for Multiple Teeth Bleaching: Efficacy, Mechanism and Safety

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is the commonly‐used bleaching chemical in clinical practice, but its excessive concentrations can cause tooth damage. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma is considered a promising new technique for tooth bleaching. Surface micro‐discharge (SMD) devices can generate large‐scale plasma, which holds potential for treating ...

Service Recovery in Chatbot‐mediated Environments: Trust Dynamics and Customer Loyalty Intentions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Management, EarlyView.
Abstract Prior research has shown that customers’ perceptions of chatbots may be influenced by the situational context in which human–chatbot interactions take place. This research advances understanding of artificial intelligence (AI)‐enabled chatbot‐led service failure recovery (SFR) in the context of customer loyalty.

Russian wheat aphid: a model for genomic plasticity and a challenge to breeders

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Invasive foundress finds suitable habitat and reproduces through pathogenesis. Wingless females produce life offspring quickly, which leads to high population densities. High population densities result in competition, which may induce epigenetic changes and wing development for dispersal.

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.
