Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Matrix Stiffness Enhances Odontogenic Differentiation of DPSCs through Membrane Curvature Protein Baiap2‐Modulated Exosome Release

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Matrix stiffness softening is identified as a previously underappreciated feature in deep caries. Higher stiffness drives exosome release in dental pulp stem cells through a coordinated mechanism involving PI3K–AKT‐regulated Baiap2 and kinesin‐1, thereby promoting odontogenic differentiation.

Herbivory‐Induced Stomatal Opening Triggers the Dispersal of an Invasive Insect Herbivore

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The invasive leafminer Phthorimaea absoluta uniquely manipulates plant defenses by inducing stomatal opening in tomato. This response, mediated by the stomatal regulator IQM1, enhances the release of the repellent volatile benzaldehyde. This volatile triggers the dispersal of adult moths, facilitates colonization of new hosts, and leads to rapid ...

Electrode‐Engineered Dual‐Mode Multifunctional Lead‐Free Perovskite Optoelectronic Memristors for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A lead‐free perovskite memristive solar cell structure that call emulate both synaptic and neuronal functions controlled by light and electric fields depending on top electrode type. ABSTRACT Memristive devices based on halide perovskites hold strong promise to provide energy‐efficient systems for the Internet of Things (IoT); however, lead (Pb ...

Impact of Histopathological Response on Outcomes After Surgical Resection Following Carbon‐Ion Radiotherapy for Pancreatic Cancer With Arterial Involvement

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Carbon‐ion radiotherapy (CIRT) provides superior dose distribution and higher biological effectiveness than conventional X‐ray radiotherapy and has emerged as a promising component of multidisciplinary treatment for advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Melatonin Levels in 89 Individuals With Smith Magenis Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In patients with Smith–Magenis syndrome (SMS), an inverted circadian rhythm of melatonin (MT) contributes to the sleep disturbance. Standard treatment of sleep disturbance with MT often leads to extremely high daytime MT levels, resulting in even more sleep disorders. We therefore retrospectively evaluated the MT data of 89 SMS patients.

North American Delphi Consensus Study on Sinonasal Malignancy Survivorship Care

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survival for patients with sinonasal cancers has improved over the past decades, but there are no dedicated survivorship guidelines for this cohort. Objective To understand experts’ priorities and perspectives on key survivorship tenets (surveillance, second tumor screening, toxicity, and symptom management).

Application of microRNA-34a for diagnosis of pleomorphic adenomas of salivary glands

open access: yesКлінічна хірургія, 2019
Objective. Determination of expression of microRNA-34a in tissues of pleomorphic adenomas of large salivary glands, adjacent to tumor salivary gland tissue, intact tissue of a salivary gland, which was not connected with the tumor, and in a venous blood ...
