How surface electronegativity and calcium release in enamel mediate the adsorption and lubrication of salivary proteins: The role of interfacial water

open access: yesFriction
This study investigated the effect of surface electronegativity and calcium release from human enamel on the adsorption and lubrication of salivary proteins from the perspective of interfacial water using three model substrates: calcium-releasing ...

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,

Discovery of a Reversible Sub‐Picomolar Thrombin Inhibitor Using DCC

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An ultrapotent yet fully reversible trivalent thrombin inhibitor discovered through screening a large dynamic combinatorial library (DCL) of 125 000 members of self‐assembled fragments. The innovative approach leverages size‐exclusion‐based affinity selection, coupled with MALDI‐TOF mass spectrometry readout, enabling the full workflow to be completed ...

Salivary Glands Proteins Expression of Anopheles dirus A Fed on Plasmodium vivax- and Plasmodium falciparum-Infected Human Blood

open access: yesJournal of Parasitology Research, 2013
Mosquitoes are able to adapt to feed on blood by the salivary glands which created a protein that works against the haemostasis process. This study aims to investigate the salivary glands proteins expression of 50 adult female An.

Examination of salivary proteins as biomarkers of pathological conditions. Literature review

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, 2013
Saliva is universally available biofluid, easy to collect. Comprehensive analysis and identification of the proteomic content of human saliva may contribute to the understanding of oral pathophysiology and provide a foundation for the recognition of ...

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Functional evaluation of proteins in watery and gel saliva of aphids

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Gel and watery saliva are regarded as key players in aphid-pIant interactions. The salivary composition seems to be influenced by the variable environment encountered by the stylet tip. Milieu sensing has been postulated to provide information needed for
