Protein Dissimilation by Human Salivary-sediment Bacteria

Journal of Dental Research, 1989
Proteins of known composition and structural characteristics were incubated (1.0 mglmL) with re-suspended salivary sediment (2.5% vl v) in a lactate-salt medium with an initial pH of 5.2 for two hr at 37°C. Hydrolysis of the proteins was monitored by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Genetic Regulation of Salivary Proteins in Rodents

Critical Reviews in Oral Biology & Medicine, 1991
The presence of a protein in the cell is the result of a complex pathway that is known by the term gene expression. In this article we review the existing literature on the structure and expression of representative salivary gland genes and their regulated expression during development and upon extracellular stimulation.

Salivary gland proteins of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus

Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2000
Several properties of the salivary glands of Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes were analysed. The amount of protein in female salivary glands increased from 0.26 microg on day one after emergence to about 1.4 microg on day seven. The major polypeptides found in the female salivary glands had molecular weights of 35.7, 28.3, and 20.5 kDa.

[ Immunoelectrophoretic study of salivary proteins].

Stomatologie der DDR, 1975
The proteins in saliva samples from 60 individuals (subdivided into three age groups) were analysed immuno-electrophoretically to reveal possible relationships with periodontal disease and caries. No such relationship was established with regard to caries.

Properties of salivary basic proteins showing polymorphism

Biochemical Genetics, 1973
Additional family data support the hypothesis of autosomal codominant inheritance of alleles Pb 1and Pb 2that determine the parotid basic protein (Pb) polymorphism in Blacks. These highly basic, low molecular weight proteins have thus far been found only in the saliva. The multibanded patterns as well as variations in band intensity and mobility in the
