A Carbon Nanotube Immunosensor for Salmonella [PDF]
Antibody-functionalized carbon nanotube devices have been suggested for use as bacterial detectors for monitoring of food purity in transit from the farm to the kitchen. Here we report progress towards that goal by demonstrating specific detection of Salmonella in complex nutrient broth solutions using nanotube transistors functionalized with ...

Types of Salmonella paratyphi B and their phylogenetic significance [PDF]
The substrates inositol, rhamnose, d-tartrate and m-tartrate used in fermentation tests with 338 cultures of Salmonella paratyphi B differentiated strains in some phage types to give information that could be used in epidemiological investigations. Xylose in Bitter's medium, the fifth substrate by which 13 of a potential 32 biotypes were identified ...

Neonatal sepsis due to Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi A
Sepsis due to Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi and Paratyphi A is rare in neonates. Though described as a mild and unrecognized illness in infants, life-threatening complications and even deaths have been reported. We present five cases of neonatal septicaemia due to S. Typhi and S. Paratyphi A.

Immunological detection of Salmonella paratyphi A in raw prawns [PDF]
A slot blot enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, using monoclonal antibodies specific only for Salmonella paratyphi A, to detect S. paratyphi A contamination in raw prawns has been established. When artificially contaminated prawn samples were tested. S. paratyphi A contamination could be identified correctly within 20 h.
