Mutation of Salmonella typhimurium by nitrosoguanidine
Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1965Abstract N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguadine (NG) was found to be an extremely effective mutagen for Salmonella typhimurium. Its specificity range was similar to that of diethyl sulfate, but different from 2-aminopurine and numerous other mutagens. A number of multi-site mutants induced by NG and diethyl sulfate were analyzed and most of them were ...

Fertility Factor in Salmonella typhimurium
Nature, 1959IN crosses between Salmonella typhimurium strain LT-7 and Escherichia coli strain K-12 Hfr, it was found that recombination occurred only when the Salmonella strain carried a mutator factor, presumably1 a mutator gene (mut). Earlier studies had shown that the main effect of mut is to increase the rate of spontaneous mutation of virtually all genes with

The mutagenicity of dinitrotoluenes in Salmonella typhimurium
Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology, 1981The mutagenicity of technical grade 2,4-dinitrotoluene (DNT), a mixture composed predominantly of 2,4-DNT (76.5%) and 2,6-DNT (18.8%) but containing 3,4-, 2,3-, 2,5- and 3,5-DNT, and the 6 isomers of DNT has been determined in 3 assays with Salmonella typhimurium.

Transmission of Salmonella typhimurium to swine
Veterinary Microbiology, 1994These studies were designed to determine the rate of transmission and the colonization pattern of Salmonella typhimurium in swine. Two experiments were conducted. In experiment 1, swine challenged per os with either S. typhimurium strain 798T + or strain 798N + were exposed to heterologous feces. Following exposure to heterologous strains, heterologous

A pseudoepidemic due to Salmonella typhimurium
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1983A pseudoepidemic due to Salmonella typhimurium occurred in the clinical microbiology laboratory of a university hospital and involved 10 patients. One patient received "unnecessary" antibiotics. Investigation of the events implicated a contaminated rubber pipette bulb. Such bulbs should be considered as a possible source of false-positive cultures.

The plasmid of Salmonella typhimurium LT2
Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1973Salmonella typhimurium LT2 and its mutants carry a large plasmid of molecular weight 60×106. Strains lacking autonomous plasmid DNA have been isolated. No plasmiddetermined functions have been identified, other than replication and a possible involvement in gene duplication.

Citrate transport in Salmonella typhimurium
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1978Abstract Citrate was rapidly metabolized in wild-type cells of Salmonella typhimurium but actively accumulated in both aconitase mutants and fluorocitrate-poisoned cells. In aconitase mutants citrate was transported by a single high affinity system ( K m 23 μ m , V max 27.2 nmol min −1 mg −1 ), characterized by a single pH optimum of 7.0 ...

Mutagenicity of nitrosodiethanolamine on salmonella typhimurium
Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology, 1979Nitrosodiethanolamine was examined in the Ames assay for bacterial mutagens. In absence of S9 activation a mutagenic effect was found.

NeonatalSalmonella typhimurium meningitis
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2001Meningitis due to Salmonella is a very rare sign of Salmonellosis. A 10-day-old female premature neonate with Salmonella typhimurium meningitis is presented in this report. The clinical features, outcome and antibiotic treatment are discussed. Although it is extremely rare, Salmonella meningitis should be considered in differential diagnosis of ...
