The complete mitochondrial genome of Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus (Salmoniformes, Salmoninae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2016
The complete mitochondrial genome of Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus was obtained by PCR amplification and sequencing. It was 16,684 bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA and a control region. The arrangement of genes was identical to that of most other bony fishes. Nucleotide identity between Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus

Flagellins as Vaccine Adjuvants and Cancer Immunotherapy: Recent Advances and Future Prospects

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 176, Issue 3, Page 277-303, November 2025.
The figure depicts the role of flagellin in immune cells. Flagellin interacts with TLR5, resulting in the formation of homodimers and the recruitment of MyD88, which activates the IκB and MAPK signalling pathways. This results in the activation of NF‐κB and AP‐1, producing TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐8, and IL‐12.

Migration pattern of Atlantic salmon smolts Salmo salar L. released at different sites in the River Drammenselv, SE Norway

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1990
Hatchery-reared smolts of Atlantic salmon Salmo salar L. of the River Drammenselv stock were released at four different sites in the River Drammenselv system; (1) at Gol, (2) at Kaggefoss, (3) at Hellefoss and (4) in the estuary at Svelvik.

Gene expression profiling reveals functional specialization along the intestinal tract of a carnivorous teleostean fish (Dicentrarchus labrax) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
High-quality sequencing reads from the intestine of European sea bass were assembled, annotated by similarity against protein reference databases and combined with nucleotide sequences from public and private databases. After redundancy filtering, 24,906

Patterns and Processes of Genomic Evolution Inferred From the Ten Smallest Vertebrate Genomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 38, October 13, 2025.
By integrating phylogenetic relationships derived from nuclear DNA with population genetic analyses across ten pufferfish species, the genetic differentiation mechanisms underpinning the radiative speciation of the most compact vertebrate genomes has elucidated.

Semelparous whitefish Coregonus lavaretus: do they exist?

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1988
The life history of the whitefish Coregonus lavaretus population in the eutrophic Lake Temse, Southern Norway, was studied in 1985 and 1986. Growth was intermediate compared to other populations, whitefish attained 13 and 21 cm first and second winter ...

Comparison between the distributions of land-locked Atlantic salmon Salmo salar L. and three-spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus L. in the river Namsen, Norway

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1984
The land-locked salmon Salmo salar L. in the river Namsen is found up-stream to a waterfall situated 290 m above s.l. It is found both above and below the Trongfoss waterfall in the main river. The three-spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus L.

Vitellogenesis as a biomarker for estrogenic contamination of the aquatic environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A rapidly increasing number of chemicals, or their degradation products, are being recognized as possessing estrogenic activity, albeit usually weak. We have found that effluent from sewage treatment works contains a chemical, or mixture of chemicals ...

Taxonomic and Biogeographic Misconceptions in Qinling Lenok (Brachymystax tsinlingensis): Reassessing Zhou et al. (2025) Species Distribution Models

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Brachymystax tsinlingensis is an endangered teleost fish species endemic to China's Qinling Mountains. Zhou et al.'s (2025) study contains two critical flaws: taxonomic misidentification and spatial extrapolation errors, thereby compromising biogeographic accuracy and risking distributional misinterpretations. We propose targeted enhancements—including
