River Connectivity in Dammed Areas Studied Through Environmental DNA Metabarcoding at Community and Species Levels

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The field of environmental DNA (eDNA) is rapidly expanding with established applications in biodiversity monitoring, rare species detection and ecological assessment. However, its potential to evaluate species connectivity in fragmented aquatic systems remains underexplored.

Patterns and magnitude of Zn:Ca in otoliths support the recent phylogenetic typology of Salmoniformes and their sister groups

open access: yes, 2010
La chimie des otolithes de poissons sert a associer les poissons a des environnements specifiques. La chimie des otolithes peut aussi potentiellement servir d'outil dans la recherche phylogenetique, comme nous le demontrons ici chez les poissons ...

Life history of a riverine, resident Atlantic salmon Salmo salar L.

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1988
The Mellingselva river, a tributary of the River Namsen, in central Norway, supports a population of freshwater resident Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), which resembles a parr and which completes its entire life cycle in the river.

Mechanisms of co-existence of Heterocope saliens (Crustacea, Copepoda) and planktivorous fish

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1984
The simultaneous occurrence of Heterocope saliens and a large stock of Arctic char was investigated in the oligotrophic, coastal Lake Selura in SW Norway. Habitat-overlap of H. saliens and Arctic char was restricted mainly to June.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus (Salmoniformes, Salmoninae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2016
The complete mitochondrial genome of Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus was obtained by PCR amplification and sequencing. It was 16,684 bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA and a control region. The arrangement of genes was identical to that of most other bony fishes. Nucleotide identity between Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus

Growth Performance and Intestinal Health of Triploid Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Through Bile Acid Supplementation in Low Fishmeal Diets: Insights From Metabolomics, Microbiota, and Gene Expression

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This research aimed to explore the impact of bile acid (BA) supplementation in low fishmeal diets on growth performance, serum biochemical indices, tissue morphology, lipid metabolism, gene expression, and gut microbiota in triploid rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss, initial weight 15.97 ± 1.4 g).

Bird predation on hatchery reared Atlantic salmon smolts, Salmo salar L., released in the River Eira, Norway

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1987
Carlin-tagged Atlantic salmon smolts have been released in the River Eira in western Norway during the period 1961 - 1980. Just after release birds were observed as smolt predators.

Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus, infectious haematopoietic necrosis virus and HPR‐deleted infectious salmon anaemia virus – Risk of introduction in free areas through fertilised eggs and gametes

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract EFSA assessed the risk of introducing viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV), infectious haematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) and highly polymorphic region‐deleted infectious salmon anaemia virus (HPR‐deleted ISAV) into free areas through movement of fertilised eggs and gametes.
