Push–Pull Ynamines and Push–Pull Ynamides: Synthesis, Structure, Reactivity, and Application
Push–pull ynamines and push–pull ynamides, which carry an EWG and an amino or amido group as EDG, are highly interesting classes of EDG‐EWG alkynes that have been intensively studied due to their exceptional reactivity. In this review, the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and application of push–pull ynamines, push–pull ynecarbamates, push–pull ...

Recent progress in the synthesis of six-membered aminocyclitols (2008-2017) [PDF]
Aminocyclitols are of interest as glucosidase inhibitors, as probes for the study of pseudoglycosyltransferases, and as potential therapeutics for the treatment of Gaucher’s disease.

The total synthesis of the manzamine alkaloid keramamine C (2) in its racemic form was achieved in 5 steps, with ring‐closing metathesis as the key step. The metathesis is strongly improved by an intramolecular H‐bond‐induced conformational fixation of the amide bond, inducing close proximity of the terminal double bonds in the precursor molecule.

Novel Charge-Transfer Materials via Cocrystallization of Planar Aromatic Donors and Spherical Polyoxometalate Acceptors [PDF]
Spherical polyoxometalates (POMs) such as M6O192- and SiM12O404- (with M = Mo or W) and planar arene donors (anthracenes and pyrenes) can be cocrystallized (despite their structural incompatibility) by attaching a cationic “anchor” onto the arene which ...

Emerging Trends in Organic Photoreactions Utilizing Disulfides
Disulfides are versatile, nontoxic alternatives to metal photocatalysts. This review explores their role as photoactivated thiyl‐radical precursors and bifunctional catalysts (HAT/electron shuttling) in diverse transformations. Strategies for electronic tuning and development into recyclable heterogeneous materials are highlighted for sustainable ...

A Salt Metathesis Route To Ruthenium Carbene Complex Isomers With Pyridine Dicarboxamide-Derived Chelate Pincer Ligands [PDF]
Reaction of the doubly deprotonated pyridine 2,6-dicarboxamido ligand (1) with (PCy_3)_2Cl_2 Ru=CHPh (3a) in THF gave a mixture of (lig)(PCy_3)Ru=CHPh isomers (4).

Synthesis of novel dienes and cyclic compounds via olefin metathesis reactions catalyzed by the second generation Grubbs catalyst [PDF]
Transition metal-catalyzed olefin metathesis reactions play a significant role in chemical synthesis. These reactions are currently applied across several disciplines, and their full potential has not yet been reached.

Rationale Mass spectrometry (MS) is introduced to high school students in the UK in many pre‐university course syllabi. As such, we have identified the use of MS as a key technique that should be taught practically to undergraduates from the outset of their studies.
