Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

Deep Eutectic Polymer Electrolyte with Competitive Hydrogen‐Bonding Coordination for High‐Voltage Nickel‐rich Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To stabilize high‐voltage Li||NCM811 batteries, we develop an in situ polymerized deep‐eutectic electrolyte (p‐DEPE) featuring competitive hydrogen‐bonding coordination. This design weakens Ni4+ adsorption, suppresses oxygen release, and enhances interfacial stability.

Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.

Cyclic Operation of Molten-Salt Thermal Energy Storage in Thermoclines for Solar Power Plants

open access: yes, 2013
The cyclic operation of molten-salt thermal energy storage thermoclines for solar thermal power plants is systematically investigated. A comprehensive, two-temperature model is first developed for the cyclic operation of a thermocline operating with a ...

Photoelectric‐Coupled Ferroelectric Heterojunctions for Ultrahigh NO2 Sensing With Polarization‐Memory‐Assisted Interfacial Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a Bi2WO6/SrBi2Ta2O9 heterojunction where light‐driven ferroelectric polarization reversal couples with persistent photoconductivity, enabling exclusive NO2 selective room‐temperature sensing. The device achieves a two‐order‐of‐magnitude sensitivity enhancement over an unpolarized device, a sub‐ppb detection limit, and robust ...

Raman effect in rock-salt

open access: yes, 1946
Born and Bradburn have deduced the nature of the Raman spectrum of rock-salt to be expected on the basis of the Born lattice dynamics. They claim to have explained satisfactorily the observed features of the rock-salt spectrum reported by Fermi and ...

Generation of Self‐Organizing Macrovascular Constructs by Bioprinting Human iPSC‐Derived Mesodermal Progenitor Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vascularization remains a major obstacle in tissue engineering. Here, we introduce a bioprinting strategy to generate centimeter‐scale, self‐organizing “mother vessel” constructs from iPSC‐derived hiMPCs. By optimizing bioink composition, printing was accomplished in a single‐step approach. Within one week, hiMPCs differentiated into both CD31+
