Origin and evolution of osmoregulatory mechanisms in blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) as a function of metabolic and structural complexity: Reflections of Precambrian paleobiology [PDF]

open access: yes
Major accomplishments underlying the basic understanding of cyanobacterial resistance to salt tolerance and osmotic stress were made. The methodology proposed included: the tracing of the pathways of formation of osmoregulatory solutes by traditional ...

Advances in MoS2‐Au Nanostructured Platforms for Cancer‐Derived miRNA Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This figure presents the roadmap and scope of this review on microRNA detection technologies, with emphasis on MoS2 and MoS2–Au hybrid nanostructures. It traces the evolution from conventional assays to MoS2‐based SERS platforms, highlights synthesis, interfacial chemistry, and signal‐enhancement mechanisms, and summarizes key challenges and future ...

A Comprehensive Review of Waste‐Derived Materials for Solar Still Performance Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Solar desalination reduces energy use and produces freshwater sustainably, but its productivity is limited and cannot meet rising demand. Thus, solar desalination system improvements are sought to boost water productivity. Waste materials are abundantly available and burden the environment, making them low‐cost enhancers for solar desalination

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printable Stretchable Pressure Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a carbon‐black‐functionalized double‐network granular hydrogel (DNGH) pressure sensor capable of detecting pressures from 200 Pa, equivalent to a light finger touch, up to 500 kPa. The sensor exhibits signal drifts below 3.5% after 800 cycles and response times around 80 ms. Leveraging this broad sensing range, we 3D print this material into

Transcriptome Analysis Between Parents and Offspring Revealed the Early Salt Tolerance Mechanism of Rice NGY1

open access: yesRice
Salt stress poses a severe threat to global rice productivity, and developing salt-tolerant cultivars represents a critical strategy to address this challenge. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying salt tolerance in rice remain elusive. This study
