Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

A physicochemical study of samarium oxide-based catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation reaction: effect of loadings

open access: yes, 2021
Catalytic reaction has been widely explored for converting carbon dioxide (CO2) to methane (CH4). A series of samarium oxide-based catalyst was screened, while the potential Ru/Mn/Sm (5:35:60)/Al2O3was further analysed due to the highest CO2conversion ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Optimization of Solvent Extraction Parameters for Separation of Samarium and Lutetium from Acidic Media Using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Separation of samarium and lutetium was investigated through solvent extraction from their mixed aqueous species using commercial extractants of D2EHPA and PC88A. The Response Surface Method (RSM) was utilized to design the solvent extraction experiments.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Particle-Size-Induced Valence Changes in Samarium Clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Samarium clusters exhibit mixed-valence behavior which is sensitive to particle size. XPS and UPS data show samarium to be primarily divalent (4f{sup 6} ) at small particle size.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Implication of Thermodynamic Functions and Speciation Diagrams in Analysis of Solvent Extraction Behavior of Samarium from Acidic Solutions

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Solvent extraction of samarium from aqueous solutions by two different types of extractants, namely D2EHPA and PC88A, in kerosene was investigated. Through identification of speciation diagrams, the chemically stable complexes of samarium in different ...
