Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Fuzzy Entropy Analysis of the Electroencephalogram in Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease: Is the Method Superior to Sample Entropy?

open access: yes, 2019
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia in the world, which is characterised by the loss of neurones and the build-up of plaques in the brain, causing progressive symptoms of memory loss and confusion.

Fast Algorithm Based on Parallel Computing for Sample Entropy Calculation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Sample entropy is a widely used method for assessing the irregularity of physiological signals, but it has a high computational complexity, which prevents its application for time-sensitive scenes.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Blind source separation to enhance spectral and non-linear features of magnetoencephalogram recordings:Application to Alzheimer's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This work studied whether a blind source separation (BSS) and component selection procedure could increase the differences between Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and control subjects' spectral and nonlinear features of magnetoencephalogram (MEG ...

Quantitative Analysis for Aluminium Alloy Welding Quality based on Current Sample Entropy

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper proposed a kind of analysis method for the aluminium alloy welding quality based on current sample entropy to solve the difficulties in the quantitative analysis for the welding stability of aluminium alloy.

Sample entropy analysis of cervical neoplasia gene-expression signatures

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2009
Background We introduce Approximate Entropy as a mathematical method of analysis for microarray data. Approximate entropy is applied here as a method to classify the complex gene expression patterns resultant of a clinical sample set.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
