Long-term blood-sampling technique in piglets [PDF]

open access: yesLaboratory Animals, 1986
A technique to enable long-term blood sampling from piglets aged 2-3 months is described. Piglets were housed individually in expandable cages and a heparinized polyurethane catheter was inserted into the external jugular vein. A technique was used which prevented the catheter from pulling out of the vein with growth of the animals.

The mechanical latching memory of an adhesive tape

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
The storage and retrieval of mechanical imprints from past perturbations is a central theme in soft matter physics. Here we study this effect in the partial peeling of an ordinary adhesive tape, which leaves a line of strong adhesion at the stopping ...

Long-Term Strategic Asset Allocation: An Out-of-Sample Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
We evaluate the out-of-sample performance of a long-term investor who follows an optimized dynamic trading strategy. Although the dynamic strategy is able to benefit from predictability out-of-sample, a short-term investor using a single-period market timing strategy would have realized an almost identical performance.
