Sequenced-Replacement Sampling for Deep Learning
We propose sequenced-replacement sampling (SRS) for training deep neural networks. The basic idea is to assign a fixed sequence index to each sample in the dataset. Once a mini-batch is randomly drawn in each training iteration, we refill the original dataset by successively adding samples according to their sequence index.

Sampling Distinguishable Elements with Replacement
In sampling with replacement from a finite population, the sample mean is known to get a smaller variance if repetitions are deleted before forming the mean. The asymptotic behavior of the variance just mentioned is studied.

Confidence sequences for sampling without replacement
Many practical tasks involve sampling sequentially without replacement (WoR) from a finite population of size $N$, in an attempt to estimate some parameter $θ^\star$. Accurately quantifying uncertainty throughout this process is a nontrivial task, but is necessary because it often determines when we stop collecting samples and confidently report a ...

Decreasing returns to sampling without replacement [PDF]
We study sampling from a finite population without replacement when seeking an extreme (lowest or highest) value. An example is a buyer searching for the lowest price. It is well known that there are decreasing returns to sampling from continuous populations: the expected minimum is a decreasing and discretely convex function of the sample size.

Renewal Theory for Sampling Without Replacement
Let $\pi$ be a finite set, $\lambda$ a probability measure on $\pi, 0 0$ there exist constants $\delta > 0$ and $K > 0$ such that if $\rho = \max_{a\in\pi} \lambda(a) < \delta$ and $\mathrm{K}\rho < x < 1 - \mathrm{K}\rho$ then $\sum_{a\in\pi} |P(a, x) - \lambda(a)| < \varepsilon$.
